Trade and Technology Program

In 2018, a “state of the art” shop class was built at the new location of St Luke Catholic High School.  This shop was designed to facilitate learning about carpentry skills.
 
       
 
During the 2018-2019 school year, grade 11 and 12 students helped build the garage, which is designed to house a welding shop.
 
      

In grade 9, students design and build race cars – this project introduces students to the many shop tools and safety skills that are needed in future shop classes.

In grade 10, students build tables.  Students are introduced to the many power tools, such as the table saw, lathe, ..

In grade 11 and 12 students apply the knowledge they have gained from grade 9 and 10 to build structures such as cottages, sheds and garages.  Students learn about carpentry and electrical concepts.  St Luke has partnered with St Lawrence College to run an onsite Dual Credit.  A college professor comes to St Luke’s to teach the college content to students.
